fall leaves in ny
while in d.c.
it was so fun to stop by to see my old friend mei li while we were in d.c. she teaches at a school nearby. the place where she lives was so magnificently beautiful!!
the grounds of the school and the color of the leaves made such a beautiful scenery.
jeffrey took these pictures of the boys. they are so adorable aren't they?

it is always fun to see old friends. especially when it feels like it was just yesterday when you hung out, and really it has been 5 years. mei li was so cute with my boys. running down the street, twirling, laughing. the boys favorite part i think was spinning around on her rotating lounge chair in her apartment. we laughed pretty hard. we were only there for a couple hours, but it was so nice to say hello and catch up.
hope you liked the pictures. jeffrey always does such a great job. too bad he didn't get out his nice camera. have you checked out his blog lately? upsidedownbackwards.blogspot.com

a run in with the authorities...
for more information about why we were stuck at a gas station in nj with 5 cops questioning us check out jeffrey's blog. upsidedownbackwards.blogspot.com it's a pretty funny story now, but it wasn't at the time. it all started with a large format camera and a water tower...

the face
pumpkins, a vampire, and a zebra
happy halloween! (late)
washington d.c!!
about 6 years ago my friend cyndi and i worked at great harvest bread co. together. we had good times in that warm yummy smelling bread store! we became great friends. the last time i saw cyndi was about 3 months before elliot was born. they moved to geogia with their little baby girl aislyn. she is now 5! i just can't believe how time moves along. well anyway, last summer being in boston, we had hoped to meet up with them, but it was just so far and it didn't happen. this year tommy, cyndi's husband, emailed me a month after we moved here saying that they had set up a time and place for us to all meet. i was so excited! tommy grew up near d.c. and his parents still live there and he said we could all meet up there! so his kind parents opened their house to us and fed us through the entire weekend. they are so generous and kind. we see where tommy got it from.
we drove to d.c. the thursday before halloween. it was a fabulous weekend. we're thinking we might go again in the spring. it was so wonderful to see cyndi, tommy, and their three adorable children aislyn, abby, and gabe. unfortunately i was sick with a cold the whole weekend coughing up a storm so i didn't get to hold little gabe. it was so hard to not hold him, but it was wonderful to at least get to stare at him from a distance. he is the most quiet and calm baby i have ever seen. you are lucky cyndi! enjoy it!
so here are the pictures of our great weekend.
all of us.
cyndi and i in the natural history museum in d.c.
the fam walking down the mall to the memorials.
cyndi and tommy and little gabe!
elliot and aislyn
precious sweet abby in the WWII memorial.
daddy and elliot WWII memorial.
wonderful abraham lincoln. i'm sure this election meant a lot to him.
beautiful. i was here 8 years ago and i just remember my breath being taken away at each of these sites in d.c. it was wonderful to experience them again. it brings back a love of american history.
i love my family. don't we look cute. i wish you could see the boys' faces. they were so good on this trip! we really had such a great time. we still love the new stroller too. it rocks!

we have been so lucky to be able to do so much while living in ny. it really has been great! sometimes i wish the boys were a little older so they could remember all this great stuff. i guess we'll just have to save up to come back again to all these places when they are older.
thanks cyndi and tommy for setting up such a great vacation! it was wonderful the way it had been over 4 years and yet it didn't feel like a day had passed since we had hung out. that is what it is like with true friends. we are lucky to have you! miss you already.
