my boys - always full of fun and crazy faces
i just can't get over the awesome pictures these boys take. don't you just love it!

this is from a while back, but i thought i would post it for all of my friends and family back home in utah that are dealing with the snow while we are having 70 degree weather.
sam kept trying to kiss elliot on the cheek, so finally elliot just held his head in the right direction for the picture. haha.
yep, they made space suits out of grocery sacks.
elliot's school had a carnival. it was a lot of fun. here are a few funny shots.

my parents' visit
we were so lucky to have my parents come visit us. my mom got to come about 4 days before my dad. here we are, each of us with a hat elliot had made at school. i am wearing cat in the hat, elliot has the statue of libery on, sam is a leprechan, and my mom's hat is a dollar bill. elliot has such a creative kindergarten teacher. he's always so proud of the stuff he brings home.
grandma was here over st. patrick's day so we celebrated with green colors. this day is also my mom and dad's anniversary, so he sent her some flowers that morning. they had just gone on a trip the week before to celebrate.
my cute mom made green eggs and "ham" (it was actually sliced turkey soaked in green food coloring). the kids loved it.
me and my cute elliot. this was what he wore to school. he was so excited. my mom brought him this hat.
my mom and i worked a lot and nearly got our entire sewing project done before my dad came into town (see previous post).
it was so good to have him arrive. isn't he handsome!
he was so cute with my boys. they loved playing and rough housing with him. one afternoon he and sam played cars and airplanes in sam's room for nearly 2 hours! it was so precious. sam was so sad when grandpa had to leave.
grandma got to join elliot and i at elliot's school book fair. elliot and sam love books so it was fun when grandma and grandpa bought them a couple books. they got elliot one about star wars and sam one about cats - the things that the boys like a lot right now.
here they are reading books on our couch. they did this each morning and let me sleep in. my parents were so nice to do that for me.
here they are reading with grandpa. don't you just love where sam is hanging out. silly boy.
while they were in town they got to come to elliot and sam's last day of soccer.
here elliot is with his certificate. he scored a great goal that day.
cute sam. notice jeffrey in the background. the parents were supposed to be getting them with their "tails".
sam's certificate.
grandma and grandpa came to the boys' swimming lessons too. it was so fun for them to see the boys in action.

the day before they left we went bowling and we had a lot of fun!
sam waiting for his ball.
elliot got a spare on this turn.

sorry we didn't get one of grandpa in action.
it was hard to say goodbye. we had so much fun while they were here. we got a babysitter one night and went out, just the four adults. it was so nice to sit and chat. we had a movie night one night. we played games a few of the nights. we talked late a couple nights. it was just so nice to have them around. we can't wait for them to come again!

better late than never
i uploaded these pictures right after christmas, saved it, and forgot to finish it. so i have to put it up today. this post is dedicated to our long time friends, karie and beef. if it wasn't for them jeffrey and i never would have met. we love you guys and miss you tons!
this is our annual date night downtown to see the christmas lights at temple square in slc.
our kids eating a fabulous breakfast after we all slept over. sam, lillie, elliot, and jozie.
cute jonas. i bet you've gotten so much bigger already.

beef and jeffrey.
yep.
karie and me.
we got to go swimming in utah in an indoor splash pool. my sister-in-law, jen and her kids joined us. it was a lot of fun. i wish indiana would build something like this, or even at least a community pool, indoor or outdoor. we miss swimming!
we went sledding and we had a lot of fun. jeffrey's brother mike and his family, jessica, logan, and kaylinn joined us too.

karie and i had a girl's night out with our girlfriends. karen taught us how to make these cool trivets. we had a great time eating, talking, creating, and laughing. it was so healing. i love the magic these girls have on me.
karen, karie, jen, katrina, and me. i love that we do this every year. i miss you girls.

our sewing project!
i was lucky to have my mom come into town to visit a couple weeks ago. it was so great to have her here. i asked her if we could work on a sewing project together while she was in town. she kindly said yes. we had a lot of fun for 2 1/2 hours looking at fabric, mixing and matching colors and patterns, choosing pillow forms, etc. we then started working.

here is the fabric before we got started sewing. we laid it over the pillows and rocking chair to see how it would look.

here we are working hard. i'm not much of a sewer, so my mom told me what to do and then i tried to do my best. when it came to recovering the rocking chair, i mostly just watched and learned. my mom has a great talent. it turned out amazing!
here was our first finished pillow.
here is the finished project. 5 pillows and one recovered rocking chair. i was so excited we were able to get it all done in the week that she was here. thanks mom!!!

spiderman theme song
today i had to take elliot to the dr. he had a wart on the bottom of his foot. poor guy. they painted a little medicine on it that should help it go away. he was so brave.
anyway, while we were there sam had a total meltdown. i'm talking kicking and screaming and scratching. that hasn't happened in a long time. don't get me wrong we have melt downs still, i mean he is still 3, but they aren't usually that bad. by the time we left i had lost it. i had two places on my hand leaking blood and i just couldn't take it anymore. yep i yelled . . . loudly, in the privacy of my own car. no i am not proud of losing my temper, but it happened. luckily we got home in one piece. i sent sam straight to his room and down for a nap. he doesn't take naps anymore. he must have known i meant business (or he was just plain exhausted, which could explain the meltdown) because he did not get out of bed and he fell fast asleep. after an hour of quiet and then filling his tummy with peanut butter and jelly, carrots, and apples, he is once again my happy sam. we are now going to cuddle on the couch and watch a movie together. phew. i think this is why i am so exhausted each night when jeffrey gets home.
just to prove how cute he is, even after humiliating his mom in front of everyone at the dr.'s office and drawing blood, i have posted sam singing his favorite song.
enjoy.

you melt my heart
our friends from georgia
we were lucky to have our good friends cyndi and tommy and their 3 kids drive up from georgia to spend the weekend with us. unfortunately their girls were sick off and on through out the weekend, but we still had a lot of fun. they came to elliot's soccer game, played in the snow, went bowling - did a post on that, went out to eat, played lots of games after the kids went to bed, celebrated valentines day with a cheese and a chocolate fondue - bummed i didn't think to take pictures, and just plain had a great time. i meant to get a picture of the 4 of us and of the entire group, but again, i forgot. oh well, at least we have the memories. thanks so much for driving so far! we love you guys.
here is sam and abby getting ready to go outside to play in the snow.
