my parents came to visit and we had a blast! there was something so special about having both my mom and dad here. my mom visited last august. we had a few new places to show her since we've been here for about 9 months now. i can't believe we've been here that long. wow.
we went and threw rocks into the hudson river. it was freezing and snowing the week before my parents came and then it was in the 50's (which is warm) while they were here. we were all sick the week before too, so their timing was perfect.

my dad and mom got to visit jeffrey's work. it's pretty cool to get a tour of the avery plant.

this wrestling occurred often. the boys just loved playing with their grandpa!

the week before my parents came, elliot's preschool was teaching the kids about dental hygene and i mentioned that my dad was a dentist. they asked me if he would want to come in and do a little presentation for elliot's class. they were assuming that he lived close, but since he was coming in town the next week i told them i would ask him. he was happy to do it and it was so fun!

he talked to them about cavity bugs, what foods can hurt your teeth, how to brush, why you need to floss, and then he handed out tooth brushes for all the kids to take home. it was so cute and so fun! it meant a lot to me and i'm sure it meant a lot to elliot. the kids had so much to say. one kid told us that his mom has fake teeth and one said his dad has a lot of cavities. it was funny. it makes you wonder what your kids say about you while they are at school. hehe. they had all the right answers for his questions. it was so cute. so, thanks dad!!!
here he is showing them how to floss. the rope is the floss, elliot is one tooth, and agne is the other tooth. so cute!

we took a day trip into nyc. we went to the central park zoo, which is over priced for how small it is, but it was still a lot of fun.

we took the subway down to madison square park for a burger at the shake shack. would you believe it if i told you we waited an hour and a half in line to get our food? i guess that's pretty normal. the burgers and fries were worth it though! sammy pretty much slept in the stroller the whole time and elliot just ran around and played since it is all outside. my parents are so easy going it made things fun and relaxed!

there is something so cute about this shot of them at the payphones.

of course we made a stop at the m&m store. thanks dad for all that yummy candy!

we had the luck of having scott and sal stop by for a few days. the kids had so much fun playing together. they did really well too! that sal is so adorable. i found myself just looking at her. she was so comfortable around me this time too. i like getting to know her better. she's such a neat little girl and so clever!

jeffrey and scott jammin. wish we could have had more time for that!

sala and grandma homer.

we drove up to bear mountain state park but it was freezing cold again unfortunately so we didn't stay too long. this place is so gorgeous in the summer time and fall. the lake still has ice over the top. come on spring! we are ready for you!

cute sala was loving the little puddles.

i had to throw this last picture in here. after dad had to leave on sunday and scott left on tuesday, elliot and grandma were hip to hip the rest of her visit here. they are such great buddies. it was so sad to see her go. they really do have something special between the two of them. sammy was always near too. a couple days after my mom flew home i woke up in the middle of the night to find sammy in the family room crying for his nahma(grandma) . it was sad, but cute too. even today after he woke up from his nap he walked around a little and then said, "where is my nahma?" know we miss you! thanks so much for coming!!

How fun to have your family visit. I think that was so cute and probably very very fun for Elliot to have your Dad visit his preschool. I bet that is something Elliot will remember for a long time. Looks like you guys did a lot of fun things with them while they were there.
So many comments, where to begin???
1- WE want to tour the Avery Plant too!
2- Dad has done the Dentist Teacher thing for our kids too and Elliot WILL remember it! It's so fun to watch Dr.Homer in action.
3- It's a good thing the preschool kids didn't see Dr.Homer buying all that candy for us!
4-I wish we could have heard Scott & Jeff & seen baby Sal!
5- (finally- the last comment) Sammy's story for Nahma is too sweet. She's one of a kind!
I had a lot of fun reading this post- can you tell?

MaryIrene...I didn't know YOUR dad was the Dentist that came to visit Circle of Friends !! That's all Declan has talked about- he loved it ( and the toothbrush is his new favorite) he will remember it ...tell your Dad thanks for us !
That was a great post. Parents take on another meaning when they play and spend time with your own parents. I wish I could see the Avery Plant, maybe one day!
Hope to see you all someday, maybe in the summer.
Love you guys, Will and Wendy
